Babadoo Animation Series

For a German company ,Bababoo and friends® ,  that makes childrens books and animations but also sell kids toys of these characters , hired me to make the storyboards for their animations and to make some small animations for their campaigns .

They gived me these short scripts , about Bababoo and his friends , that I had to divide into a storyboard with 4 scenes that would illustrate the full story . Also I have to reuse elements that they had design previously .

The task was fun to do , I like to draw and to make a small story into drawings and scenes is something that I love to do .

The challenge for me was to keep the character proportions and elements as I put them in a different position .

I also did a handrawn animation of a character painting a block tower , I used Adobe animate and After effects to achieve this .

Exposition: Bababoo and Friends

Bababoo and Friends is a German brand known for its delightful children's books, animations, and toys. Their colorful and engaging products have captured the hearts of young audiences and parents alike. The brand aims to make learning fun and memorable, creating a playful world that sparks imagination in children.

Compelling Event: Turning Concepts into Visual Stories

The client needed help with storyboarding their animations. They sought an illustrator who understood animation and could create compelling visuals that matched their unique, playful style. They reached out to us, looking for an expert who could bring their scripts to life with dynamic, kid-friendly storyboards.

The Process: Crafting the Visual Story Step by Step

We started with the scripts and cover art provided by Bababoo and Friends. Using this as a foundation, we designed each scene, ensuring all elements—characters, poses, and settings—worked together. Through collaboration and feedback, we fine-tuned the visuals, creating 12 detailed storyboards that would guide the animation process.

To the Very Top

Lion Bababoo and his friend the Firefly Miss Mali have been hard at work in the workshop. They’ve built a new red tower for the castle to make it even taller. Bababoo paints a beautiful crown onto it, then shouts:

“All done!” *

“Now we just have to take it to the top,” Miss Mali declares.

“Oh,” Bababoo sighs and lowers his head. “But I’m too scared to climb up.”

“You’ve never been to the top of the tower? Come with me!” Miss Mali says and takes Bababoo’s hand.

Here are the stairs that lead to the top of the tower!

Bababoo takes it one step at a time. Together with Miss Mali, it’s not as hard as he thought. They look out of the window together. *

Bababoo is amazed. “Wow, how beautiful!”

“Isn’t it?” Miss Mali smiles. “This is how I see the world when I’m flying around.” *

Finally, they arrive at the very top and build the new tower. It looks wonderful, and the crown sparkles so prettily in the sun!

“We should come up here every day,” Bababoo says proudly. “Together!”*

The Final Story board

Have a story you want to bring to life? Let’s create something amazing together!

The final deliverables included 12 storyboards and an animated sequence of a flying character constructing blocks. These visuals helped the animation team bring the client’s characters to life, ensuring a smooth transition into animation. Our work provided a strong visual foundation, capturing the brand's fun and energetic style.

The storyboards helped the client stay on track with their animation production, ensuring consistency and timeliness. Though we weren’t involved in marketing, our visuals played a crucial role in boosting the brand's overall appeal, enhancing their product animations and supporting their marketing efforts, ultimately making their production process smoother and more efficient.
